But tell me now, where was my fault

Sweater: Salvation Army $4, DIY Skirt: Salvation Army $3, Stockings: Ardenes $3, Shoes: Spring $25, Necklace: Thrift $5

I finished my exam yesterday!! It is such a relief to be done studying for a little while. I think this is my favourite over sized sweater (it is quite big when it's not tucked into my skirt). I love army green so much for fall this year, i would love to find a cardigan in that colour. Its kind of hard to see in the pictures but there are elbow patches and details on the shoulder which make the sweater a little extra special :) not to mention the fact it is wool and super super warm!! Funny little fact when i got it home from the Salvation Army i checked the label and googled the name. It turns out this sweater is actually from the Canadian army clothing supplier (there is a base a few towns away) which i thought was kindof cool considering the military clothing trend, my sweater is the real deal!! This skirt is my first hemming project i have worn on here!!! When i bought it from the Salvation Army it was about mid-calf length and i just finished the hem last week. Actually it is a bit shorter then i had originally intended, i could have sworn i measured!! The skirt has a elastic waistband which i love (so comfortable) and would fit a variety of sizes so it is going to be my first contribution to the blog swap group which i am very excited to start!!

This was the outfit i had planned for today when my childhood friend was going to come visit me on her reading week. She told me yesterday that she couldn't take the vehicle, so that didn't work out. This kindof thing has happened numerous times with various other people. I mean we moved last year and i think i have had two visits from people and i am only moved two hours away, i mean it's not across the bloody country or something. But i'm not angry about that, however it does really upset me when someone says they are coming up so and so day and then it doesn't happen for a variety of reasons. I don't think i am being unreasonable in thinking maybe they should check with work or parents if that day/weekend/car is free before making the plans with me. It is really disappointing :(. Sorry for my rant, generally i don't like to talk about those kindof things on here but i am just feeling sad and lonely today.

I have been playing around with this idea for a while but i was wondered about maybe doing a double blog feature with someone (i ask them questions and vice versa). I am working on finishing up my Ask Me Anything answers (if anyone wants to a ask a question here is the link!!) but i loved some of the questions so i just think it would be a fun idea, just email me if you are interested!! I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Thrift Shopping In's And Out's From A Seasoned Veteran

No outfit pictures today (:, I wasn't feeling photogenic and i am not the best at posing as it is so not a good combination. But i did feel like blogging so i decided to finish up this old post i have been working on for a little while and never fully finished. I love to thrift shop for so so so many reasons, i love finding bargains!! My sister gave me the idea for writing about thrift shopping and i know i have gotten some comments from people about not finding to many things while thrifting. I have read a few Do's and Don'ts articles for thrift shopping which i didn't really like. They seemed kind of bossy which i found a bit off putting so i definitely didn't want to write something like that!! What works for some people might not work for others and i am by no means an expert. These are the things i do when i go thrifting and i guess tips to someone who wants get started!!

1) Why Pick A Size

When i shop in regular stores i generally have a pretty good idea what size i am although that might vary a bit depending on the shop. But with thrift shopping and i always say this to everyone i go shopping with (friends, sisters, aunts, my mom) the size on the label doesn't matter. Sizes of clothes can vary soooooo much depending on the brand, where the clothes have been made or how old they are. If i think the item looks like it might fit me i will try it on no matter what size the tag says. I think i have a range of shirts from extra small to extra large in my closet. i love my oversized sweaters :) so trying on something which is a little bigger sometimes looks awesome on!!

2) Try On Everything!!

Haha that might be a bit broader then i actually mean but there is reasoning behind it don't worry. I do this with regular shopping to but this especially applies to my thrifting. When i am searching through the racks if i find something i just kind of like or strikes my fancy for some reason i grab it and keep looking. I generally end up with a massive two armfuls of clothes before i go into the change rooms (Warning only do this if there is no line, people can get a little impatient lol). I often find that items i was a bit unsure of look great after trying them on while others i loved instantly don't.

3) Goodwill or Salvation Armies Are Gold Mines

I love love love the outreach/goodwill store in my town. It is seriously where i find almost everything (except sweaters there are mysteriously none there) the prices are always between $2-$6 unless it is something super fabulous! The little old ladies who run it know me by name now and we always have a good chat when they see me in there, i wonder what they think i do with all of my clothes. Anyways the above stores are where i find my best bargains, because they are non profit organizations which means the prices are cheap cheap cheap and you are helping out the less fortunate which always makes me feel happy. I do like vintage stores and places like Value Village although there prices are generally more then thrift shops (unless there is a sale!) but they are still way less then regular stores. The clothes have already been picked out for you so they tend to be of good quality and it is easier to find a specific item but i like thrift shops better (the thrill of searching gets me every time).

4) Rummage, Rummage, Rummage

The only con with the above tip (although as i mentioned i LOVE this part) is the rummaging and searching through all of the racks at those stores to find some treasures. I know my one sister told me she didn't like thrift shopping because you had to look through alot of bad clothes to find something decent and it was a bunch of work so she would just not bother. Although it can be a bit daunting it is all worth it when you dig up some gorgeous dress/sweater/shirt/skirt etc, for some ridiculously cheap price. I tend to just go to whatever rack i see first and work my way through all of the clothes (yup i look at every hanger, you never know what the front of the item might look like...cute or bad enough to make you laugh).

5) Think Of Things You Are Dying To Find

When i go thrifting i like to have a few things i want in mind like coloured cardigans (so hard to find by the way), a fur coat (still undecided if vintage fur is ok), leather gloves etc. It can often take ages to find the exact item you want but i like to keep it in mind just in case and it gives me some purpose while i am shopping so i don't just end up buying blouses which i love to do :) and end up never wearing them.

6) Try and Try Again

I find it hard sometimes not to get discouraged when i try on loads of clothes and nothing seems to look right and i leave the store empty handed. But i always always go back in a few weeks and check again. I went to the Salvation Army one week and found absolutely nothing and the next i found three of my favourite sweaters and a floral skirt!! That is one of the fabulous things about thrift shopping the clothes are always changing, i hardly ever see the same thing twice in my local goodwill.

7) Never Settle

Thrift stores can be cheap like super cheap. Sometimes i get caught up with just how cheap something of good quality is then whether or not it is my style. I have gotten a bit better at this over the years, especially the last few months with this blog :) i try not to buy something unless i can think of a few ways i can wear the item (if it's not my style i generally can't come up with any) and to never settle and buy some i don't really love. But the odd time i still come home with some random piece of clothing that is not my style or actually a bit hideous (i get the urge sometimes to buy some of the weirdest/funky clothes) and i just shake my head as to why i purchased it.

Happy thrifting everyone!!! now i really do want to go shopping :)

Some other news, my computer is acting really weird again, there is no sound when i use itunes or try to watch videos, internet explorer will just not load at all and it wouldn't start this morning for about two hours (finally on now) i am going to have to make a trip back to the computer guy and get it looked at... again. I have a exam on Thursday (wish me luck!!) so i need to do some serious studying, it might actually be a good thing if i was without my computer, less distractions!! But because of all this i don't know if i will be able to blog to much :( since the stupid thing could completely quit on me at any moment but if it is still working i will take a much need break from studying and take some photos. So i hope everyone has a lovely week and i will be back to blogging soonish!!

When We Saw The English Garden

Sweater: Value Village $5, Vest/shirt: Salvation Army $2, Shorts: Stiches $?, Tights: Ardenes $3, Boots: Vintage via Ebay $27, Locket Necklace: Salvation Army $4, Heart Pendant Necklace: a small music shop $5

A few days ago my computer got a major virus and completely crashed on me!! Thankfully it is fixed now but i missed not posting every few days. I need to catch up on all of the blog updates i missed and reply to comments!! This is the mustard yellow sweater i just bought on the weekend. I swear stores would sell SO many more clothes if they didn't use those awful unflattering florescent lights because i wouldn't have bought this sweater if my sister hadn't said she liked it on me. Now i really completely love it (thanks sis) and i don't think it makes my skin tone look sallow or yellowish like i had thought in Value Village. My new boots i won on ebay came in!! The shipping was super fast, especially to Canada which can take ages. I think they arrived in about a week, my last package from ebay (my dress from my last post) took over a month and i thought it had been lost in the mail. I wanted a pair of brown lace up boots because i wear my black ones to death but it took a little while to find some long enough from my feet and still relatively cheap!! They look brand new and are super comfortable to wear so my faith in ebay and online shopping has been restored. I hope everyone is having a lovely week!!

If I Take What I'm Given

Photobucket

Cardigan: Salvation Army $4, Dress: Vintage via ebay $13, Tights: Ardenes $3, Shoes: Spring $25, Necklace: Thrift $5, Hat: Thrift $1, Ring: Ardenes $?

I wore this outfit yesterday when i went to my sister and do some shopping!! Can i just say how much i love cities. There are restaurants with actual vegetarian options and other people wearing something besides jeans with hoodies, i don't think i am meant to live in a small town. I took these pictures my sisters front porch and i now am forever envious of it and want my own immediately, there were just so many photo options! At first i helped her set up a food blog and then we went shopping in the afternoon. I only found a sweater, a mustard coloured cable knit one from Value Village which i can wear with leggings (i am still a bit unsure how the colour goes with my skin tone but i liked how it looked with my brown hair, hopefully that will balance each other out). I still need to find a different coat and a few more coloured cardigans but i was happy i restrained myself from buying too much. Oh oh i tried on TWO leopard print fur coats at a vintage store my cousin works in, they were gorgeous and only thirty some dollars which was such a bargain. The bloody things were BOTH to short on the arms. They fit everywhere else :(. I was soooo disappointed and didn't really feel like shopping after that. I will find my fake fur coat eventually... i hope.

Photobucket

I know i have been wearing those berets way to much on here but surprisingly enough i love hats. Actually it does make sense now that i think about it since i don't do anything with my hair, so plopping on a hat adds some much needed variety!! It also helps that i found the one i am wearing this post and the cream coloured one at the bottom of a hat bin for only a dollar each. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!

I never made promises lightly

Fake Leather Jacket: Winners $40 (gift from my sister!!!), Dress: Thrift $4, Scarf: Thrift $.75, Tights: Ardenes $3, Hat: Thrift $1, Shoes: Thrift $2

Urgh i had this whole post written and i thought i saved it but apparantly not, i was so shocked and a bit peeved when i opened up my blogger dashboard and it wasn't there!! My computer has been acting up and won't let me open some sites but i hope it works itself out soon, i swear this thing has had about a million problems in the last year. I wore this outfit on Saturday to my first Thanksgiving, my last post was from the second on Sunday. I took these photos on a road above my grandpas village. I think these are my favourite photos i have taken for this blog i just love how the valley looks in the background. Oh i am so so so excited i reached 50 followers a few days ago!!! I just want to thank you all so much and it makes me so happy :). I am feeling really tired and just awful in general tonight, i think i am going to go drink some tea and go to bed early. Night everyone!!

Ask Me Anything

The title pretty much explains this post :). I have been wanting to write a About Me page now that i have finally figured out how to create extra pages on blogger (thanks so much Amber Rose ) but i was always kindof of worried i wouldn't get asked any questions. So i am taking the plunge despite that and here it is. So you can ask me anything you would like and i will answer them in a future post!!

Come and take my hand

Photobucket

Sweater: Salvation Army $4, Shorts: Stitches $?, Tights: Ardenes $3, Boots: Spring $70, Clock Necklace: Thrift $5, Bow Necklace: Thrift $1, Rings: Ardenes

I was so disappointed with how these pictures turned out!!! I don't know what happened i think i must have hit the wrong setting on my camera all of my photos were either way to dark or completely whited out. I took these yesterday before we went to Thanksgiving at my aunts house. I wasn't feeling to well and was sick to my stomach earlier in the day which was kindof crappy but i still managed to have a good supper which is all that counts :). This is one of my "new" sweaters i bought last week during the best thrift shopping i have ever had at the Salvation Army. I just love cable knit sweaters and you might of noticed but i have a obsession with horizontal stipes! It is quite alot bigger then i remembered when i purchased it but i love it anyways although i think i kindof look like a stripey marshmellow in these photos... oh well. It was a lovely comfortable outfit and quite warm almost to much so because it got really hot in the afternoon. I think this sweater is going to get alot of use in the winter!!

Photobucket

On Friday i am going to go thrift shopping in the city!!! i am so excited i am actually going down to help my sister set up her own food blog. Figuring out how to work blogger and get all of the settings right took me a good four months on my own (i just found out how to add a extra page like a few days ago) so hopefully i will be of some help!! But after that we will hit up the huge Value Village, this great consignment store my cousin works at, and maybe the mall? i would like to get some more tights and potentially try out some thigh high socks. Besides that i am only allowed to look for a fall/winter coats (i really want to find a faux fur or sheepskin one) and different coloured cardigans. I really don't need anything else, i always end up buying blouses and i have way to many already. I purchased a pair of brown lace up boots on ebay so i cannot wait till they come in (i still have a pitiful amount of shoes)!!! After this trip though i think i should completely stop shopping and start saving money for christmas, we will see how long that lasts though.

Photobucket

I put together a collage of the pictures i took at Thanksgiving. I had a major DUH moment and i probably should not be admiting this when it came to the holiday and the fact it is completely a North American tradition. So so so bad i really don't know what i was thinking, total lapse in brain function there. But i thought i would show the pictures i took of my Thanksgiving with my family like the food and things. My uncle actually grows pumpkins and gourds which look so funny (they are weird warty things or those huge snake looking stuff on the wagon). I hope everyone has a great day!!

I am thinking my drinks taste just right

Photobucket

Blazar: Thrift $4, Dress: Thrift $4, Necklace Thrift $5, Tights: $3, Shoes: Zellers $15, Hat: Thrift $1

I took these photos at a pond right by the river which runs through my town. The sky was just gorgeous!! i had to fool around with the settings to get them right but i was so happy when i saw my pictures and nothing was too distorted. I found this dress while i was rummaging through my give away clothes pile (it is quite surprising what i have found in there). The dress originally goes down to my knees and i have to admit i am just a short dress person, i love longer hemlines on other people but i just never seem to wear them myself. For these pictures i actually pined the dress up but i hopefully i will hem it after the weekend. This is my favourite blazar i own although in the colour is a bit different then the photosgraphs, it is a really bright leprechaun green. Canadian thanksgiving is this weekend and my family's suppers are on Saturday and Sunday!! We have these big get togethers which generally include a hike and truck loads of food :). I am trying to lose the extra weight i seem to have gained the last year (@#$%^!!!!) my attempt to not swear, so my goal is not to stuff myself full like i normally do. Hopefully i will be able to take a few outfit pictures there. I hope everyone has a great weekend and happy early thanksgiving to any Canadians!!!

Someday I'll be losing this fear

Photobucket

Cardigan: Savation Army $4, Dress: Bootlegger $5, Scarf: Thrift $.75, Tights: Ardenes $3, Shoes: Thrift $2, Hat: Thrift $1

Total: $15. 75 (hehe so cheap!!)

It was so so so cold while i took these pictures!! i swear the temperature just dropped ten degrees in the last few days, i need to seriously invest in a pair of gloves, i am thinking maybe some leather ones. After reading the comments on my leopard print post i decided i would wear my scarf which i completely love now and it might show up on here alot now :). I mixed a total of three different patterns in this outfit (the leopard print, stripes and my hat is tweed) so i felt very trendy lol. This outfit is my pride and joy because the entire thing only cost $15.75 which i think is pretty darn awesome. I must say i bought the hat on kindof a whim because i didn't think it looked very good on me but i have worn it way more then i was expecting to!!

Photobucket

I wore this outfit yesterday when i went into to town to run some errands and go to the Salvation Army. Oh my goodness the shopping was amazing, sometimes i don't find to much at that thrift store, the ocasional sweater or shirt nothing to special but it was just great this time. I swear i tried on about fifty things!! i have been having real bad luck with finding things that fit lately as everything seems to either be to big or to small. I actually went there to buy a dress i had seen before but ended up getting a navy blue cardigan (yes i finally found a elusive good quality cardi these things are NEVER at thrift stores), two oversized sweaters (one nautical striped and the other army green with these awesome shoulder details and patches on the elbows), and a floral skirt which i am going to hem in the near future. It is on days like those i wish i had a blog shop because there was way to many cute clothes there for me to buy just for myself. I hope everyone has a lovely evening!!

We are not what you think we are

Poncho: Thrift $2 (fifty percent off sale), Tights: Ardenes $3, Shoes: Spring $25,

Underneath/ Tanktop: Bootlegger $?, Shorts: Stiches $?

ok this is my most out there outfit i have ever posted. I truely think this poncho looks better in real life the print is much darker. I have the problem of loving a outfits while i wear them and take photos but then have major doubts or second opinions about them. Oh well it was a experimental outfit and at least it was cheap!! i was having one of those days where i could not take a good face photo at ALL, i have about fifty were i look like i am going to punch someone lol so here are some ok ones that i am not particulary thrilled with. I am feeling so so tired right now i can't think of anymore to type, this never happens :). I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
